Interactive Discussion on CSR: Early Childhood Care and Nutrition in time of COVID

The early years are the most extraordinary period of growth and development in a child’s lifetime. The foundations of learning are laid during these years. Getting the foundations right carries huge future advantages.

India has the largest population of children in the world and is estimated to be 16.45 Cr children in the age group 0-6 years constituting 13.59% and of the total population and 74% of these children (0-6 years) live in rural areas. The pandemic has affected all of them, but some more deeply than others, including these children from extremely poor families. They are fighting a dual battle one against coronavirus pandemic and second against undernutrition.

There is a need to rethink and re-strategize ways to address the challenge of undernutrition in the times of COVID. One of the pioneer in this sector is UNICEF and reiterates the urgent need to prioritize investments in Early Childhood Development (ECD) including focus on parenting within the COVID-19 response. This is critical to minimize preventable child deaths, to prevent violence against children, and to drive economic recovery and productivity in the longer term.

With this aim an interactive discussion is being organised virtually in collaboration with UNICEF with selected CSR leaders on: “CSR: Early Childhood Care and Nutrition in time of COVID”. The focus of session is to share the strategic responses adopted by UNICEF India office to address ECCD along with Nutrition in time of COVID 19.

The session is being organised on 22nd February 2021 from 3.30 PM onwards.
