IDEATE 2020: Building Sustainable Communities: Adapting to Post Pandemic Challenges
Agriculture | Livelihood | Health

Date: 10th November 2020 | Time: 3:30 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.

COVID 19 has gradually developed into a human tragedy and though India has been successful to contain the spread of the disease and minimise loss of lives, its economy has been battered. The pandemic has made an unprecedented impact on lives and livelihoods of millions of people across India. According to Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) over 122 million people in India lost their jobs in April 2020. 91.3% of small traders and laborers, 18.2% entrepreneurs, and 17.8% salaried persons have lost employment. However, dependence on agriculture as primary source of income has witnessed a significant 5% increase as millions of people have returned to their villages. The pandemic has reinforced the links between health, environment & the economy and rapidly changing conditions in communities around the world—especially the vulnerable communities.

Hence, it is worth reflecting here on the other systemic actions that are needed to shift towards a more sustainable and resilient economy. We need to focus on strengthening sustainable agriculture practices, creation of sustainable livelihoods options and access to affordable health care facilities and strengthening our public health facilities.

FICCI Aditya Birla CSR Centre for Excellence  in partnership with Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation (BIPF) is organising IDEATE 2020 with the theme Building Resilient Communities: Adapting to Post Pandemic Challenges on November 10, 2020  from 3.30 PM – 5.00 PM with an aim to understand, discuss, share & develop a roadmap for creating sustainable communities with special focus on promotion and strengthening sustainable Agriculture, Livelihood and Health.
